Public Relations And Business Ethics Management Essay

Advertising And Business Ethics Management Essay Actually Public relations mean relations with publics, for example client, representatives, financial specialists, networks, media, providers, government, industry bodies, pressure gatherings, contenders and so forth. It is characterized as the administration of correspondence between an association and its publics (Grunig and Hunt 1984, p.6 McElreath 1996). PR is the control that takes care of associations notoriety, keeps up its open picture and encourages relations so as to increase comprehension and backing just as impact assessment and conduct (McElreath 1996, Ciprco.uk). It is the arranged and continued exertion to set up and keep up altruism and common comprehension between an association and its open (Cipr.co.uk). For an association, there are changing elements of advertising. The 4 fundamental zones are first, advertising correspondence, by which PR is utilized as a limited time device to help accomplish promoting targets. The subsequent region is money related advertising, by which it present data to business journalists. The third comes to item advertising, which plan to pick up exposure for companys item and administration and ultimately, emergency advertising which focus on the reacting to negative data. Different regions of PR practice incorporate structure affinity with financial specialist and network, worker, media and government (Rubel, 2007). Therefore it very well may be seen that PR can supplement publicizing and promoting however it has its own way of life as a calling Advertising additionally include in surveying and administering open perspectives just as keeping up common comprehension and relations between an association and its open. To gives introduction to its crowds, advertising specialists utilize outsider support, for example, subjects of open intrigue which don't connect with direct installment (Seitel, 2007). Some uncontrollably utilized PR instruments incorporate public statements, media units, pamphlets, bulletins, yearly reports and intelligent online networking. Normal PR exercises incorporate working with the media, talking at meetings, emergency correspondence and worker correspondence. By reacting to the partners desires and fitting their inclinations with the association, PR fills in as a mediator. Compelling PR will assist the association with conveying data and message to its open improve correspondence channels and grow better approaches to empower two-way correspondence in this way making its open picture and open mindfulness so as to expand support of its item. Why has morals become a focal issue for PR field as of late? The activity that enterprises ought to be moral and socially dependable started in 1960s. It was a period that organizations were developing quickly and globally (Lantos, 2001). The peril partners with organizations dishonestly seeking after benefit and social force has elevated open mindfulness. As of late, it has likewise been seen that the absolute most well known organizations lost open certainty from the exposure in view of their shameful practices. Models incorporate Shell added to natural corruption; Nike worked sweatshops in creating nations and the once top enterprises, for example, Worldcom and Enron the breakdown as a result of deficiency. Aside from obliterating individual companys notoriety, these embarrassments brought up issues of corporate believability and shaken open trust in the whole worldwide business. Advertising, as an interchanges work, has a significant job in revealing the organization money related and other basic data just as the administration of connections between the association and its key partners. Therefore moral situations are particularly basic in Public practices since PR consistently need to deal with profoundly touchy and dubious issues. Additionally, the convoluted and various levels (relational, hierarchical and cultural) of connections which PR consistently drew in with will frequently acquire clashing desires and interests between various publics. Thusly it is once in a while calm hard for PR experts can act morally and to get a harmony between being an advocator of outer and inward publics and simultaneously, dealing with companys interests. In any case, it ought to be noticed that keeping up moral guidelines and qualities is the way in to the foundation of good associations with customers, workers and media (Baskin Aronoff, 1992: 88). Harlow accentuated the significance of moral correspondence by featuring that it is PR professionals obligation to serve open intrigue (Vithakamontri, 1991:19). The significance of morals is related with the positive connection between great advertising and business achievement. Moral and socially dependable organizations are demonstrated to appreciate better relations with its open (Baker, 2004). Organizations with moral direct may seem to prevail from the outset, however regularly it very well may be discovered that they experience the ill effects of poor advertising in a more extended term. In 2002, WorldComm conceded misrepresenting its salary proclamations and turned into the greatest bankrupt organization ever. The embarrassment wave before long cleared away other corporate goliaths, for example, HealthSouth, Tyco and Auther Anderson and brought prison terms to many, in any event, homemaking symbol Martha Steward. Then again, numerous partnerships make a basic wellspring of upper hand an atmosphere of acknowledgment for the association by being moral and connecting effectively with CRS exercises. Corporate social obligation can fill in as an approach to deliberately separate itself from the contenders. Like the Co-employable Group, Body Shop and American Apparel, they assemble client dedication dependent on particular moral qualities (Pieczka, 2001) and they do profit by building a notoriety for honesty. Additionally, some of them do it through working with nearby networks to help teach youngsters and create abilities for grown-ups in Flower Valley, Africa. Starbuck and Marks and Spencer likewise effectively help the African people group by ensuring reasonable exchange buys. Another way to deal with corporate social obligation is to fuse the CSR procedure straightforwardly into the associations business system. For models, numerous business including KPMG, PG and Starbucks has strategy to just get Fair Trade tea and espresso. As should be obvious, moral advertising is critical to the associations accomplishment as great morals is just acceptable business. So it is worth to inspect ethic in a more noteworthy detail. Ethic is characterized as a worth framework for settling on choices about what is correct or wrong. The associations lead isn't just estimated against their hearts yet additionally against cultural and proficient standard, so associations, with various countries, ventures and association societies, have various gauges. Moral decisions are infrequently high contrast however now and again it implies a better quality than the law. In a business viewpoint, business morals and corporate administration alludes to the framework by which organizations are controlled. These days most organizations have in-house codes of ethic and codes of social duty (Heath and Ryan, 1989). It has been contended that morals is the obligation to come clean. An investigation with respect to moral decisions inferred that paying little heed to people groups societies and religions, genuineness exceeded every single other thought. Trustworthiness is especially basic to the correspondence business since deceitfulness prompts absence of trust. At the point when a PR specialist is found telling a misleading statements, he will be disdained. As indicated by the PR proficient sets of accepted rules, coming clean supports every single other practice (Keller, 1983:1). Adjacent to significantly increase main concern announcing (3Ps) is getting ordinary. The 3 columns, People, Planet and Profits catch another standard of estimating authoritative achievement: social, natural and affordable. Organizations like Shell and McDonalds have given Statements of Business Principles and Social Responsibility reports. To satisfy societys moral commitments, corporate social obligation (CSR) is presented. CSR strategy is automatic systems where organizations screen and guarantee it adhere to the law and moral gauges so business can grasp duty regarding the effect on the networks, condition and workers. In addition, CSR-centered organizations would advance the iterest of people in general by empowering network improvement and canceling rehearses which give harm. So it is said that CSR is the intentional consideration of open enthusiasm into corporate dynamic, and the respecting of a triple primary concern (Heath Ryan, 1989). What job should advertising play in improving degrees of corporate social duty? There is a solid accentuation on the job Public relations play in executing social obligation among driving specialists. Social duty has become a significant explanation behind an association to have an advertising capacity (Grunig and Hunt , 1984). So also, Harold Burson supported that the advertising experts should give subjective assessment of social patterns, which helps creating approaches and prompting a formal corporate reaction (Burson, 1974). Bernays likewise contend that, Public relations are the act of social duty (Stone, 2005, p. 31). It has been called attention to that PR job is to serve their customers as well as the entire society everywhere (Kruckeberg and Starck, 1988). Social obligation is comprehended as an idea of advertising, a few researchers accept that with advertising, organizations can effectively actualize social duty programs. Along these lines PRs job of inner voices in the dynamic is especially significant (Dennis, 1981). From the above survey of related writing, it very well may be reasoned that CRS commitment to serve the general public applies to both individual PR specialists and the callings all in all. The government assistance of general society ought to be considered when singular specialist encourages customers to tackle issue. In the interim the relationship of PR

The Project Planning Process

The Project Planning Process The project planning process starts before work on the actual project begins and continues throughout the life cycle of the project. Its main goal is to adequately plan the time, cost and resources needed for the project  and thus to minimize risk. The main output of the project planning process is the project plan (or project management plan), which includes the project schedule as well as various supporting plans. Project Management Planning â€" Step by Step The following is a simple guide that explains the basic steps of project management planning. Note that the suggested order of the steps is not binding, although it is applicable to most scenarios. Step 1: Identify Project Stakeholders Start your project planning process by identifying the stakeholders of your project. Project stakeholders are individuals, groups, or organizations who may affect or be affected by a project. They include: The project sponsor The project leader Project team members Project testers Contractors Consultants Customers and clients Users of the project output Groups impacted by the project And others The task of stakeholder management starts with the identification of all stakeholders but doesn’t end until the project itself is completed. Throughout the life cycle of the project, stakeholders need to be managed, that is, updated about project progress and their feedback taken into consideration. Good communication is key, and it is the job of the project manager to maintain a productive dialog with everybody involved in and affected by the project, not only the core project members.   On the other hand, some projects may be so large and complex that you aren’t able to give all stakeholders an equal amount of attention. In this case, it’s important to identify the key stakeholders, i.e. those who can make or break the success of your project. Key stakeholders can include the project sponsor (the individual with overall accountability for the project) and senior management. Prioritizing the needs and objectives of key stakeholders will help increase the chances of your project’s success. Step 2: Identify Project Goals and Objectives A project’s goals and objectives depend on the needs of the project stakeholders. Therefore, knowing who your stakeholders are and what their needs are is the first step in determining your project’s goals. A good way to determine stakeholders’ needs are stakeholder interviews, which you should conduct at the very beginning of the project planning process. Tip: You can take notes during these interviews and save them directly in a project stakeholder mind map, similar to the one pictured above. Once you have a clear overview of your (key) stakeholders’ needs, you can turn them into a set of measurable goals, following the SMART principle: Specific Measurable Agreed Realistic Time-bound Goals vs Objectives Project goals are the desired outcomes of a project, which can be formulated into broad statements such as “Increase the number of website visitors by 30% by the end of the year” or “Collect 500 sales qualified leads within the next three months”. A project can have multiple goals. Goals are about WHAT the project needs to achieve. Objectives, on the other hand, are about HOW these goals can be achieved. Each goal can thus have a number of objectives. Example: Goal: Collect 500 sales qualified leads within the next three months Objectives: Create a white paper about the benefits of agile task management to collect marketing qualified leads Set up a campaign on LinkedIn to send potential leads to the white paper landing page Follow the white paper up with a webinar to turn readers into sales qualified leads Step 3: Identify Project Deliverables Project deliverables are the tangible products that are produced or provided as a result of the project. We can generally distinguish between two types of deliverables: Project deliverables, such as the project plan, minutes, or reports. Product deliverables, such as intellectual material, consumer goods, contracts, and so on. Deliverables have the following attributes: They can be intended for both internal and external stakeholders: Minutes, for instance, may be intended for the core project team, while official reports may be created to keep the client or other external stakeholders informed. They usually have a due date: Due dates are an important part in project planning â€" this is true for goals, objectives, deliverables, and individual tasks. They may represent stages of a project: Phases or stages of a project may be represented by major deliverables. In case of a new mobile app, for instance, deliverables/phases could include: 1. App concept, 2. Mockup, 3. Design, and 4. Functioning prototype. They may represent individual tasks within a project: Individual tasks can produce deliverables, but oftentimes multiple (dependent) tasks have to be completed in order to create a deliverable. Deliverables vs Objectives Project deliverables and project objectives are closely related, but they are not the same thing. You may need one or multiple deliverables to fulfill an objective, or you may be able to fulfill multiple objectives with just one deliverable. Example: Objective: Set up a campaign on LinkedIn to send potential leads to the white paper landing page Deliverables: White paper landing page LinkedIn ad Campaign report In this example, there is a logical order in which the deliverables will be due: first, the landing page needs to be created, then the ad campaign, and lastly, after the campaign is finished, a report about the success of the campaign can be written up. Note that in this example, each deliverable can be broken down further into individual tasks, which themselves may be assigned to different project members. The creation of a landing page, for instance, may require content from the copywriter, a design from the UI designer, and implementation from a developer. Step 4: Create the Project Schedule In traditional project management, the project schedule lists all activities and deliverables with their intended start and end dates, and thus provides a timeline for the entire project. To work out the schedule for your project, you will need to: Define activities based on your objectives and deliverables Break activities down into tasks Estimate the time each task will take Locate task dependencies and accommodate them in the schedule Assign (human) resources to the tasks Once you know exactly what needs to be done, who will do it, and how long everything takes, you can work out the entire project schedule. While simple in theory, this is probably one of the most difficult areas within the whole project planning process. If you can’t rely on experiences gathered from previous projects, accurately estimating how long tasks will take is the first difficulty. And even if you work out the perfect schedule on a task level, this plan is of little worth unless you’ve also created a viable resource schedule. Human resources especially are difficult to manage, as their needs and availabilities often can’t be predicted with a 100% accuracy. Project members may get sick, go on vacation, or simply work slower than anticipated. If not scheduled properly, one resource may also be needed for two different activities at the same time, sometimes resulting in disputes between stakeholders about which task needs to be prioritized. Best Practices for Project Scheduling Many of the common problems in project scheduling can be anticipated and mitigated, if not avoided altogether. Here are a few strategies you can try: Use Padding: Most people tend to underestimate how long an activity will take them to do. If you can estimate by how much team members have underestimated the effort of their tasks, you can balance the missing time in the schedule. Although sometimes frowned upon, “padding” can be a simple trick to come to a more accurate schedule. Identify Risks: During the life cycle of a project, many complications can occur â€" sudden changes in the business environment, new technologies, and many other things may lead to delays or disruptions. Conducting a proper risk analysis at the beginning of the project planning process will ensure that these risks aren’t completely unforeseen and help you prepare for them as best as possible. Manage Expectations: It’s important to ensure that leadership has realistic expectations about the project’s scope and the time and resources necessary to complete goals. If expectations are too high and the project team is unable to meet them, this can lead to frustration on both sides. As the project manager, you, therefore, need to communicate clearly what is known (and can be predicted), what is unknown, and which risks exist. Spot Bottlenecks Quickly: Bottlenecks can derail a project schedule if they aren’t spotted quickly. You should, therefore, monitor work throughout the project’s life cycle, using a task management system that makes it easy to detect bottlenecks at a glance and relocate resources to solve the issue. Kanban boards, which were originally created in the automotive industry but have since become popular in software project management and many other industries, can be useful in this case.   Step 5: Create Supporting Plans Your project plan needs to include all the information necessary to manage, monitor, and complete the project successfully. Aside from the project schedule, the stakeholder list, the goals, and objectives, the document usually includes various supporting plans that cover the following areas: Scope Management Resource Management Requirements Management Communications Management Quality Management Project Change Management Procurement Management Risk Management Step 6: Outline the Project Plan Now that you know the contents of a project plan, it’s time to look at how the project plan document is structured. By default, a project plan starts with an executive summary that provides an overview of the entire project management approach, followed by the project scope, goals and objectives, schedule, budget, and other supporting plans. Before you open a blank text document and start to write, it can be helpful to create a simple project plan outline. You can use a mind map tool or similar diagramming software for this purpose. Outlining your project plan in a mind map will help you collect all important information on a single page, visualize dependencies, and highlight open questions and issues that still need to be addressed. Such a mind map can also be saved as a template and reused in future projects. Once you’re satisfied with the outline, you can export it into a text document and start fleshing it out with more details. These series of events unquestionably prove that Shakespeare used Romeos first relationship (Rosaline and Romeo) to show that they did not share love but rather an infatuation (Superficial love) which is proven when Romeo finds his true love with Juliet giving viewers a more certain opinion that Romeo and Juliet do in fact have true love it was very important Shakespeare utilised this to ensure that the audience did not doubt the abrupt love or mistake it for infatuation as an author Shakespeare also used diverse language techniques nd altered the characters actions (When Rosaline and Romeo broke up, Romeo no more than cried; When Juliet was thought dead Romeo then to killed himself) He manipulated the audience into believing Romeo and Juliet’s love was real. The enmity between two of Verona’s noble families, tore two sides between many of the residences. Bringing the conflict outside of the two family’s immediate family and also involving close friends. This typ e of dedication and loyalty is very risky as Escalus had become weary of the fights disturbing the rest of the community. Declaring the next person to fight in the risk of being banished from Verona; which resulted in even defending a family that Mercutio was not a part of. This is an example of a deep unconditional love and friendship, or family type bond which Mercutio and Romeo shared. Unlike other relationships the brotherly love showed a different dynamic to Shakespeare’s writing abilities. He illustrated he could use formal language and informal language between different characters to one another. Informal language is commonly used between the characters with brotherly love, as this is in the intimacy of the friendship and not in serious situation. Often spoken by Mercutio, until his last moment alive. Shakespeare upheld his level of wit and humour in a somewhat relaxed manor â€Å"†¦ Good King of cats, nothing but one of your nine lives, that I mean to make bold withal; and, as you shall use hereafter, dry-beat the rest of the eight. Will you pluck your sword out of his pilcher by the ears? Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out†¦ † (Act 3 Scene 1 lines 175-177) Here Shakespeare has used Mercutio’s attitude to belittle Tybalt saying he wishes to attack him, asking him to do as he pleases and quickly (with haste). Because of this it is very hard to precisely generalize Romeo and Juliet as a Drama play or Comedy (this could also broaden Shakespeare’s range of Audience). Romeo shows his heart break and depression over Mercutio’s death killing Tybalt and consequently becoming banished. Tybalt, also Juliet’s cousin causes Romeo and his actions damage his relationship with Juliet making the families anger and hate towards each other increasingly raw also giving Juliet’s parents more reason to despise Romeo as an individual. Romeo’s actions were an intense show of emotion as he essentially put Mercutio before Juliet. Shakespeare uses the concept Love at first sight as a basis for Romeo and Juliet’s love and then developing it into a physical and endless connection, using the initial family feud as a foundation to create an innovative love story it was an ideal situation to exhibit how they’re immediate love was stronger than there love for their family as both Romeo and Juliet question their own names and decide the enmity does not affect how they feel nor does the families opinions have an input into the decision to get married. Juliet goes to a severe level to avoid marrying Paris; Shakespeare also causes Juliet’s actions to create immense grief for her family even though she did not actually die at first. This yet again expresses Juliet’s weakening consideration and love for her family as she put her family through extreme sadness for Romeo not taking into account their reactions or heartbreak and only thinking of her and Romeo’s relationship. The two lovers act very quickly not using much thought or contemplation throughout the play (Romeo taking poison straight after seeing Juliet without thinking of other solutions) â€Å"Arms take your last embrace! And lips, O you the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss. A dateless bargain to ongoing death! Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide! Thou despite pilot, not at once run back on the dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here’s to my love [drinks] O true apothecary thy drugs are quick†¦ † (Act 5 scene 3 lines 113-18) Demonstrating Shakespeare’s idea of true love as the couple puts their love for one another before everything else in their love. In conclusion the types of love shown in the whole play are not only complex but a deep insight into what lovers may of felt like in Shakespeare’s time. The audience could clearly recognize the types of love within this play and also pulls people in. Shakespeare’s dramatised use of language is endless in time and can be understood and interoperated clearly, the descriptive use of texts gives a broad and personal level to understanding what is being said. The drama and exaggeration of each conversation makes the tragedy interesting and there is always something attention-grabbing being said or going on. Phosphorus Essays - Chemistry, Functional Groups, Phosphorus

Phosphorus The element that is featured in this report is phosphorus. Phosphorus is a chemical element that human beings, animals, and plants need for normal growth. The main use of phosphorus is fertilizer. It was difficult to find a lot of different information on this element. Description Phosphorus is a nonmetallic chemical element that can exist in several different forms. The chemical symbol for phosphorus is P, its atomic number is 15, and its atomic weight is 30.975. Phosphorus was first prepared by the German alchemist Hennig Brandt in 1669; in the course of his search for the philosopher's stone he obtained from a residue of evaporated urine a white solid that glowed in the dark and ignited spontaneously in the air. The name phosphorus is Greek for "light-bringing". The name at that time was used for any substance that glows of itself, and was eventually given to this element. Phosphorus does not occur in elemental form in nature; it is found most commonly in apatite minerals such as fluorapatite. Their are at least ten forms of the element that are known, occurring within red, white, and black phosphorus categories or as mixtures of them. White phosphorus consists of molecular P(4) and can exist in an alpha form, which is stable at room temperature, and a beta form, stable below -78 deg C. White phosphorus is a waxlike substance, very toxic and extremely flammable. When it is exposed to air in the dark, it emits a greenish light and gives off white fumes. It can ignite spontaneously. Red phosphorus is a more stable form than white. Red phosphorus is a brownish-red powder and it can be obtained by heating white phosphorus to 250 deg C in a closed vessel or exposing white phosphorus to sunlight Red phosphorus is often considered a mixture of white and black phosphorus. It neither phosphoresces nor spontaneously burns in air. Red phosphorus should be handled carefully at certain temperatures because it can change to white phosphorus. Upon heating to temperatures near 300 deg C for several days, red phosphorus is converted to black phosphorus. Black phosphorus is a much less common form. It is flaky, like graphite, and has some metallic properties. It is the least reactive of the forms of phosphorus. Physical Properties Some of the physical properties of phosphorus are its various colors as listed above. The most common colors are white, red, and black. In the white form it is a waxlike substance. In the red form of phosphorus it is a brownish-red powder and the black form resembles the mineral granite and is flaky. Chemical Properties A chemical property found in phosphorus is its flammability. Also, it glows in the dark when exposed to air. Phosphorus can change forms by the changing of temperature. Phosphorus is also very toxic. The chemical properties change depending on what form of phosphorus is used. Uses of the Element Phosphorus is used for many different things. White phosphorus is used in incendiary and napalm bombs. It is used in the explosive part of the bombs. Phosphorus is one of the most important substances for life along with water, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur. The principal components of organic matter are carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur are important because they interact with the carbon-hydrogen-oxygen matrix. These substances are components of natural cycles that have geological as well as biological components. Another use for phosphorus is the match. The first friction matches were tipped with mixtures that included the incendiary chemical white phosphorus. They were produced in the 1830s. They would ignite when struck against almost any rough surface. For workers in match factories, however, the white phosphorus proved a deadly poison; the incidence of "phossy jaw," a bone malady caused by the chemical, was among the earliest of recognized occupational diseases. The safety match, developed in 1855, could be ignited only by striking it on a surface containing red phosphorus. Phosphorus remained a hazard in "strike anywhere" matches, however, until the development in 1911 of phosphorus sesquisulfide, a nonpoisonous chemical. The blast furnace iron also contains a small but significant amount of phosphorus. In the steel making process most of the phosphorus must be reduced. The phosphorus level is very high in milk, meats, many vegetables, and fruits such as bananas. It is very important for the human body to receive a certain amount of phosphorus because it is essential to the building of bone. Another function of phosphorus in the human body is that it is needed in intermediary metabolism. 10 Compounds of the

Ansel Adams Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Ansel Adams - Essay Example He got his distinct mark in his nose when he was thrown to the ground during the aftershock of earthquake and fire in 1906, when he was just four years old (Turnage, n.d.). According to Turnage (n.d.), he was born in a very conservative social and emotional environment being an only child of elderly parents. It was in 1907 when the family’s fortune collapsed that Adams’s father spent the whole time to regain their lost fortune (Turnage, n.d.). He loved music and started to play the piano which inspired and crafted his visual artistry. He gained an appreciation of nature living his childhood at the Golden Gate which is his primary foundation photography (www.sierraclub.org, History: Ansel Adams). He was once an unpromising and rebellious student which resulted to his removal from school (Szarwkowski, 2010). According to Szarkowski (2010), he was a gifted pianist thus made him become determined and ambitious musician. In was in 1916 when he got his first camera that he de monstrated his talent in photography (Szarkowski, 2010). It was in the year 1927 when he took his first High Trip of the Siera Club and finished his first fully dreamed of photograph, Monolith, the Face of Dome (Turnage, n.d.). This year became very important because he met San Francisco’s patron of arts and artists and insurance tycoon, Albert Bended, whose companionship, encouragement and polite financial support changed Adams’s life (Turnage, n.d.). It was Bended who took charge of the preparation and publication of Adams’s first portfolio, the Parmelian Prints of the High Sierras (Turnage, n.d.). Bender was the main influence who transformed a journeyman pianist to a creative photographer (Turnage, n.d.). Adams’s joined annual Sierra Club outing and became their official photographer. His role in the club grew quickly which in turn the club developed into a very important factor to his success in photography (www.sierraclub.org, History: Ansel Adams). His membership in the club developed his political involvement thus suggesting proposals for improving parks and wilderness (www.sierraclub.org, History: Ansel Adams). The club soon became an influential national organization that fought for the creation of national parks and protection of environment (www.sierraclub.org, History: Ansel Adams). He became prominent in photographic community in 1935 when he was working and contributing technical articles to a popular photography press (Szarkowski, 2010). In 1936, his worked was renowned by Alfred Steiglitz and he further used his position in the field to boost approval of photography as fine art since then (Szarkowski, 2010). President Jimmy Carter awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Adams in 1980 as recognition of his work as environmentalist and photographer (Szarkowski, 2010). Although he worked basically in the photographic print, he also got involved and became a motivator of the photomechanical reproduction (Szarkowski , 2010). He persistently explored the technical possibilities of photography in the 1940s (Szarkowski, 2010). According to Szarkowski (2010), Adams also got really busy of the â€Å"zone system† which â€Å"rationalized the relationship among exposure, development, and resulting densities in the photograph

Three Favorite Words in English Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Three Favorite Words in English - Essay Example It is vital that the people who fall in love, should respect each other especially because no matter how people love each other, there are always individual differences that should be bridged. Therefore, it is important for two people to respect each other’s beliefs, personalities and cultures so that conflicts will be minimized and the possibility of losing the passion will diminish. Trust is also very important in a relationship bound by love because it serves as a glue that holds two different people together who do different things. The modern world now demands both male and female to contribute to the economic status of the nation and is now a challenge to modern lovers because they have to be away from each other most of the hours of the day and probably even demand more time from others. This situation exposes lovers to temptations that may be difficult to fight however, when one partner is well aware of how much trust the other has for him, and that trust is respected and valued, love can remain pure between

The Published Financial Statement Accounting Essay

The Published Financial Statement Accounting Essay Annual report and accounts consists of different elements. A financial statement contains the financial information which is communicated to various users depending on their needs. The users can be internal or external users. The importance of this information varies, depending on the needs of specific users but according to the framework, the publication of financial information serves to reflect and to provide a clear image of the financial situation and performance of the entity which will help them to make a financial decision. Thomas and Marie (2012, 55). Users need financial information to assess the way the company uses its liquidity to fund its operations and investment, to be informed about its financial position and the nature of its resources for daily transactions, to estimate or predict the circumstances that may affect them, to be informed about the extent to which the company follows the laws and regulations. Usually the performance information is represented on the in come statement, the financial situation is represented on the balance sheet, and the information about changes in financial position is supplied in the notes to financial statements. Financial statements are the principal means of communicating financial information to various users. The framework defines seven essential users (Jill and Roger, 2007) but in contrast, Peter and Eddie (2002p 3) state that there are internal and external users who already have a relationship with the firm in economic terms or those who are interested in a future relationship. Starting with managers, Petter and Eddie (2002.3) noted that managers need information to assist them to make the decision and adopt and strategy of planning for the future. Furthermore, the manager who has been put in charge of presenting financial statements also needs this information to be sure that the management style, strategy and planning adopted are beneficial to the financial performance of the company. The conceptual framework states that the employees are principally interested in the type of information which permits them of having a clear idea about the stability and the performance of the company that they work for (Thomas and Ward,56 2012). Employees need information in order to ensure the stability of their jobs in the future, and to measure their ability to determine if there is a chance of getting a higher pay or promotion, and other benefits. The Investors need information about management policy, performance, stability and financial position of the company as well as to assess the risk and benefits provided by the investment in order to make a decision. Also, they need information to help them choose the proper time for transactions like buying and selling. Thomas and Ward (2012:56) Lenders are always taking risks which is why they choose the contract with lowest risk the framework noted that they are interested in information about performance and economic stability of the company, and also the information about the situation of liquidity available in the present and the future, in order to ensure whether the borrower is able to meet the deadlines for the payment of their loans and the interest. (Thomas and Ward, 2012:57). Regarding suppliers and other creditors, Thomas and Maries said that giving a loan and outputting goods without immediate payment is the same. This is the reason, they will be interested in the information that will help them at the beginning to decide whether to engage with company or not, and also to study the duration and the amount of credit to offer. According to the framework, suppliers and other creditors are interested in information that enable them to know whether they will be repaid at due date. Yet Suppliers and others creditors are interested in engaging with the enterprise for a shorter period compared to lenders who are concerned about liquidity position and the supplier seeks to know if there is a growth within the company and compare it with these production capacities. Jill and Roger (200741) states that the customers are interested in the information that enable them to evaluate the performance and ability of the company to continue its business and to know their capacity to meet the requirements of quality, the quantity and time to provide goods and services depending on customer needs. Governments and their agencies are composed by the tax authorities, financial and organization like central bank that has authority of control and regulations. Principally, the information is used as basis for calculating dues and taxes that the company has to pay. It has noted that the government and their agencies are interested in information about profitability and how it is distributed, with the aim of determining the tax policy, as they need information on the conduct of activities of entities to adjust them. (Thomas and Ward, 582012) The public is also interested in information about the performance of the company in order to define the level at which the company is progressing and its impact on economic development and social environment. To ensure that the information is useful to users for decision making, four qualitative characteristics need to be present in the information. Understandability the user must understand the information directly but should have basic knowledge of accounting and the economy. Relevance information must meet the needs of users in order for them to make decisions and enable them to compare the events of different periods. Reliability information must be reliable to give a real image of transactions and other operations. Comparability the information has to be available for comparison over time to determine the situation and the economic performance. (Jill and Hussey, 422007) It is true that the financial information addresses different user groups under standard characteristics, but it still has limitations on the usefulness of the information. The financial statement is based on historical costs. That is to say it is only monetary operations but the declaration is not correct. Also, with regards to the intangible assets there is no possibility of measuring the values of all of them in the sector of accounting. For instance, human resources are also ignored in most financial statements, and the brand value of the company is not on the statements either. Inflation is not included in the present value and all the information are based on estimates, so there is no real value on which the user can rely on. The financial statement does not take into consideration any anticipated financial condition that can happen in the industry and market which might affect the performance of the company and the decision taken by the different users of the financial statement which contains only financial information and ignores the non-financial information which is not sufficient for certain users as the case of public and employees. In contrast, investors are more concerned than other users by information presented in the financial statement. To conclude, the company is obliged to communicate the information under financial quality standards that are useful to different users, which are a total of eight. They are; managers, investors, customers, suppliers and other creditors, employees, lenders, government, and the general public. The objective of this information is to reflect the performance, position and stability of the company for the user to make a good decision. Despite the quality and control, the rest information is still not reliable and useful for certain users to make a decision.

Leadership: The MBTI Assessment

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality assessment that helps to assess one's psychological preferences based on a psychometric questionnaire. These preferences were extracted from the typological theories proposed by Carl Gustav Jung writings in his book ‘Psychological Types'. The MBTI focuses on normal populations and emphasizes the value of naturally occurring differences. [1] Also recognized commonly as a behavioral assessment tool, the MBTI uses a combination of 4 letters and each represent a clearly defined attribute. Altogether, the MBTI test consists of 16 different personality types that will describe one’s personality in alleged detail. The MBTI test has reviewed that I am type ENTJ which covers aspects of being extraverted, intuitive, thinking and judging altogether but in different extents. According to Dr. David Keirsey, he states that a person with type ENTJ is recognized as a ‘Fieldmarshal’ or basically someone who is a natural born leader as agreed by Joe Butt in his article on ENTJ. He adds that this attribute of Fieldmarshals are a rare breed that are natural at taking the lead, are structural organizers and have an act on devising contingency plans. These collectively form characteristics of a leader who will be decisive and are visionary in setting goals and direction. Having these traits of a leader, Fieldmarshals are expected to take up roles of higher responsibility and will usually take pleasure in them. However their strong devotion to their work may sometimes be a hindrance to their social lifestyles. Another prevalent characteristic of a Fieldmarshal is the tendency to emphasize on efficiency and are usually intolerant of prodigality. [5 &6] I have to admit that while reading the results and review of my personality type; it felt like a strong confirmation of how I evaluate myself. Most of the traits specified were indeed very accurate such that I am a natural leader. I have come to realize that not only do I have the tendency to lead others but I also enjoy taking responsibility and I feel more comfortable in planning ahead rather than doing things spontaneously. Being extraverted is also a spot on because I am that person who would walk across the room to get to know someone new and am not afraid to express my thoughts publicly. Looking at the basis of how the personality results were generated, I still do not comprehend how I only scored 1 in the ‘Thinking’ category as I usually make decisions based on facts and logic. Apart from the MBTI test, the Dominance Influence Steadiness Conscientiousness (DISC) test is also another credible assessment tool that provides an effective feedback and rational to help one identify his/her personal behavior and strengths, thus increasing self-awareness. The DISC assessment is a shorter test as compared to the MBTI and yet yields more specific results from over 19,000 personalized responses and 384 separate behavioral descriptions. [3&4] One other assessment would be the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) which measures thinking preferences in people. This model functions very similar to the others by incorporating cognitive style measurement. HBDI in short, adapts a concept of determining one’s dominant thinking style based on analytical, sequential, interpersonal and imaginative aspects. [7&4] Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger, who are both recognized experts in personality type and career development, agreed that the MBTI can serve as career counselors to guide and find jobs that are best suited for a person. [8] However the Army Research Institute commissioned a review on this and argued that there is no evidence for the utility of the test and further claimed that the classification scheme is limited and may be an example of stereotyping personalities. Other questions have been raised in David Pittenger’s report of how the MBTI instrument comes up short for what it purports to measure. Some of which are mainly concerns on the reliability and validity of the results. [9] Considering all that, the objective of the MBTI is somewhat achieved when it helps to facilitate self-awareness which can then lead to self- improvement. With critical feedback provided, one will be able to realize their potential essentially natural leaders, and also to reaffirm one’s focus on their strengths. As discussed, discretion may be necessary to protect one against undue reliance upon the MBTI especially in career choices.
